“Tip-A-Cop” events offer the public a chance to meet their local law enforcement officers and have a little fun.

“We’ve been trying for the last couple years to increase our involvement in this, and this year we were successful,” Police Chief Ed. Dadisho said.

Dadisho and Cmdr. Tim Mattos were on hand at lunch serving La Cabana patrons, with other sworn officers lined up to take on the dinner rush.

According to Suisun City Police, in Northern California about 14,000 Special Olympics athletes — children and adults with disabilities — participate in Special Olympics programs every year.

Police teamed up with La Cabana owner Ramses Solis to put on the “Tip a Cop” event. Special Olympics takes place in Davis on June 22-24, after a torch run put on by various law enforcement agencies that will see the Special Olympics torch run through Suisun City and around its downtown.

Dadisho stressed anyone could help run the torch. He plans to run himself.
