Trio Arrested After Traffic Stop Turns Physical

The Fairfield Police Department arrested three individuals after a traffic stop turned physical.

It could have turned out far worse for three individuals and the police officers who were involved in a Friday evening traffic stop.

On Friday, at 11:51 p.m., Fairfield Police officers stopped a vehicle on the 1900 block of Pennsylsvania Avenue.

Police say that during the traffic stop a passenger in the vehicle -- identified as Joshua Jacla, 23 -- began to struggle with the officers.Police say that Jacla attempted to arm himself with a handgun that he was hiding from police.

The officers gained the upperhand on Jacla and arrested him on suspicion of multiple weapon violations and resisting arrest.

Officers also arrested another passenger, 26-year-old Danielle Weitzel, on susicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle, Jason Wescott, 33, was determined to be on parole and was arrested on suspicion of violating it.

The trio was taken to Solano County Jail.
