Vallejo Man, Dog Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

The man, still holding onto the dog's leash, was found along with the dog at the intersection of Sutter and Louisiana streets in west Vallejo.

A 64-year-old Vallejo man and his dog were killed when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver this morning, police said.

The man, still holding onto the dog's leash, was found along with the dog at the intersection of Sutter and Louisiana streets in west Vallejo, Lt. Lee Horton said.

Police received a call at 8:30 a.m. about a man down. The black-and-white dog was dead when police arrived, and the man was taken to NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, where he died, Horton said.

The man's name is being withheld until his family has been notified of his death, Horton said.

The driver and the vehicle have not been found, Horton said.

Horton said the collision happened in a residential area where motorists frequently use Sutter Street as an alternative to busy Sonoma Boulevard, which runs parallel to Sutter Street.
