Vallejo Woman Victim of Fatal Crash on Highway 780 Sunday Morning.

The Solano County coroner's office has identified the woman who was killed in a crash Sunday morning on Interstate Highway 780 in Benicia as 24-year-old Rachel Baker of Vallejo.

Baker died at 7:08 a.m. from multiple injuries she suffered in the 7 a.m. crash, coroner's deputy Jackson Harris said.

Baker was driving a 2003 Saab west on Highway 780 at Military West when she ran off the north edge of the road and struck a metal pole for an overhead freeway sign head-on, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Hekker said.

Baker was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected 50 feet from the vehicle onto the right shoulder, Hekker said.

The Saab continued west on the shoulder and stopped below the freeway adjacent to the Military West onramp to westbound Highway 780, Hekker said.

A witness said the Saab passed them on westbound Highway 780 at more than 100 mph, Hekker said.
