Victim Fatally Shot in Fairfield Wednesday Night

A victim was fatally shot in Fairfield late Wednesday night, according to police.

At about 10 p.m. the Fairfield Police Department received multiple calls from residents reporting a loud fight and possible gunshots fired near an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Peach Tree Drive.

Officers responded to the scene and found the victim, a 36-year-old Fairfield resident, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.

The victim was transported via ambulance to a local trauma center. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the hospital, police said.

Police determined that the victim struggled with several suspects before being shot. The victim continued to struggle with the suspects before they fled the area on foot, police said.
