After Delays, Main Street Rehabilitation Now In Full Swing

Street work started Tuesday and is expected to continue for up to seven weeks.

Delayed first by the long winter and rainy spring, then to wait for the city’s biggest summer downtown events to conclude, the Main Street Rehabilitation Project started up again on Tuesday, set to be a work in progress for at least the next 5-7 weeks.

According to Scott Corey, Suisun City spokesman, workers are dealing with subsurface work on the west side of the street this week, shifting traffic to the east side. Next week will be vice versa, than major paving work will take place for the next 4-6 weeks without having to shut down the street. Corey said traffic should be able to continue moving along Main Street.

“The contractor may have additional minor spot areas to address after that, but most of the work that disrupts traffic should be finished,” he wrote in an e-mail.
