Check Your Mail For Election Info!

The Solano County Registrar of Voters is encouraging voters to pay close attention to their mail to ensure they have received all of their election materials for the June 5 Presidential Primary Election.

The Registrar of Voters has also made many of the resources voters need for the election conveniently available on its website.  Just click on the Voter Information link on www.solanocounty.com to access election information and services, including registering to vote, requesting a vote by mail ballot, locating their polling place, confirming their registered political party, and verifying that a vote-by-mail ballot was received.

All Solano County voters should receive a voter information guide from the California Secretary of State and a Combined Sample Ballot from the Solano County Registrar of Voters.  The more than 100,000 vote-by-mail voters, formerly known as absentee voters, should receive their vote-by-mail ballots this week.

If voters have not received their sample ballot and or their vote-by-mail ballot, if applicable, by Monday, May 14, they should contact the Registrar of Voters office at 784-6675 or by email at elections@solanocounty.com.

Most households should have already received the state Voter Information Guide with information on Propositions 28 and 29.  The guide and information on the presidential candidates are available online at   www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov.

Easy Voter Guides that contain a summary of all of the presidential candidates are available at the Registrar of Voters office at 675 Texas Street, Suite 2600, in Fairfield or at www.easyvoter.org.

“Voters should check the back cover of their Sample Ballot to locate their polling place.  Many polling places have changed location due to redistricting,” said John Gardner, Deputy Registrar of Voters.

Upcoming important dates are:

• May  21: Last day to register to vote in this election
• May 29: Requests for a vote-by-mail ballot must be received at the Registrar of Voters office
• June 5: Election Day.  Vote-by-mail ballots must be received at the Registrar of Voters office or a polling place by 8 p.m. Voters are encouraged to submit their vote-by-mail ballots before Election Day.

Because this is a primary election to select party candidates for president, voters will receive ballots based upon their party preference. State law allows non-party preference voters to vote a party ballot for any party agreeing to let them vote for their party candidates. For this election, non-party preference voters may request an American Independent Party or a Democratic Party ballot.
