In Wake of Boston Tragedy: Free Disaster Readiness Session in Suisun City

The free presentations will help people learn crucial, lifesaving skills in disaster preparedness, basic first aid, and hands-only Citizen CPR.

 

This event was planned well in advance of the Boston Marathon explosions, but that tragedy is a reminder that disaster can strike anytime. 

The American Red Cross will be giving free presentations to help people learn crucial, lifesaving skills in disaster preparedness, basic first aid, and hands-only Citizen CPR. Save-A-Life Saturday participants will also receive a free disaster preparedness kit.

The event will take place on April 20 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. 

Save-A-Life Saturday presentations are non-certified previews of training courses offered by the Red Cross. The presentations will last approximately an hour and a half and will be offered multiple times throughout the day. Presentations will be given in English and Spanish.

Location: Suisun City (Solano County), The Salvation Army Kroc Center, 586 E. Wigeon Way
Session times: 9 a.m. & 11 a.m. (English), 1 p.m. (English & Spanish)

Participants will receive:

 •     A free disaster preparedness kit  (includes water pack, food bar, flashlight/whistle, first aid kit, hand sanitizer, poncho, emergency blanket, tissues, hot and cold pack, pocket warmer, travel toothbrush/toothpaste).

•     Free instruction in disaster preparedness, basic first aid, and hands-only CPR. This event is part of the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter’s Ready Neighborhoods initiative, which works to empower community organizations and local residents in the Bay Area with the skills and tools they need to effectively prepare for and respond to emergencies. 

The Red Cross Bay Area Chapter is able to offer the Save-A-Life Saturday presentations for free with the generous support of community organizations and our corporate sponsors: Community Safety Foundation (Funded by AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah Insurance Exchange), Ross Stores, Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Oracle.
