Say Hello to Solano County's New Health and Social Services Director

The County Administrator is pleased to announce the selection of Ann Edwards as the new director of Health and Social Services.

“Ann brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will serve us well as we continue to transition to new state and federal requirements for the delivery of health and social service programs,” said County Administrator Birgitta Corsello.

Edwards is currently a Chief Deputy County Executive with Sacramento County, a position she has held since 2012.  She assumes her new role in early August, replacing retiring H&SS Director Patrick Duterte who has served Solano County for nearly 12 years.

“I am looking forward to this new opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of Solano County residents,” Edwards said.

The Solano County Health and Social Services Department is responsible for providing a broad array of services that promote self-reliance and safeguard the physical, emotional and social well-being of residents.  The department has nearly 1,100 employees operating from campuses in Vallejo, Fairfield and Vacaville and a budget of $270 million.

Edwards has previously served in a variety of positions within Sacramento County from a mental health program coordinator in 1998 to the Director of Health and Human Services in 2009.

Edwards is a licensed mental health clinician, with a bachelor’s degree in social work and master’s in counselor education from California State University, Sacramento.
