Solano County voters approved sales tax increases in Fairfield, Vacaville and Rio Vista in Tuesday's election.

All three measures required majority approval, and all passed easily.

Fairfield's Measure P, which garnered 66 percent approval according to unofficial results, authorizes a one-cent sales tax for five years for public safety services, street maintenance, parks, infrastructure and general services.

Vacaville residents passed Measure M, a quarter-cent sales tax for five years to fund emergency services and street lighting, giving it 69 percent approval. Voters in that city also approved Measure I, which will continue an existing excise tax for 25 years.

In Rio Vista, 70 percent of voters supported Measure O, a five-year three-quarter-cent sales tax that will go toward police, fire, land-use planning and other city services.

It was too early to say whether voters in the Davis Joint Unified School District had approved Measure E, the continuation of a parcel tax for the next four years to offset state funding cuts.

It appeared to have garnered the required two-thirds approval it needed by early this morning, but not all of Yolo County's precincts had reported results yet.

The measure had a provision that the tax could increase if the state's Proposition 30 did not pass.

As of early this morning, Proposition 30 appeared to have been approved.

In the Solano Community College District, Measure Q, a $348 million bond measure, was approved to upgrade facilities at schools and expand access to military and disabled veteran students.

Dixon voters shot down Measure N, which aimed to increase transparency at government meetings.
