"I loved your ideas regarding a good place for a dog park," wrote Patch user, Jan.

Oh - a dog park in Suisun would be wonderful!!! Dog Parks are so awesome!! I take my dog to the one in Cordelia frequently and it has always been a great experience and we've been to the Vacaville one too and that also has been fun. It is nice that the one in Cordelia also has the kids park right next door- that has been a plus. I don't have a specific suggestion as to a location but would love to have a dog park nearby. They are such positive community building places both for dogs and their people. Great idea!

Hi J. W, Please take an hour out of your day and visit Fairfield's dog park in Cordelia. We go there often and I have yet to meet an irresponsible owner. Also it is a multi-use area with a children's park, a skate park, two dog parks, multiple sports fields and several trails. My experience has been just the opposite, with dog owners asking each other if it was ok to unleash their dogs. Suisun should use this as the model and put it in the middle of the Lawler Ranch park.

I would love to see a dog park in the middle of the concrete ring around the open space at the Lawler Ranch park. As mentioned above by B. Smith and Kelly Ryan, it just makes sense to consolidate our recreational activities so our children and pets expend their energy and exercise at the same time and place. We have a great time when we visit Cordelia, but it would be so nice to have similar facilities here.

Love the comments above, especially the one from alan to J.W. As an avid dog park user (Lagoon Valley, Cordelia, Vallejo, and Point Isabella in Richmond), I see dog parks as the safest places to exercise/socialize your pet. I have found dog owners to be excellent at self-policing their animals, as well as addressing aggressive behavior in any dog. Regulations at the parks (dogs must be off-leash, no ununuetered males, etc) also increase safety. The location ideas for a dog park in Suisun City are great! Having a dog park close to other parks is smart financially, as well. You'd be close to existing plumbing, perhaps electricity. Keep the ideas coming!!
