Dan O. Root Gets a Clean Up

Elementary School works with Bounty to clean classrooms.

is pairing up with Proctor and Gamble's Bounty on May 4 for “Clean Up.” The event organizers will give “clean kits” to teachers and other volunteers to go throughout the school, wiping down surfaces of the most commonly used areas.

“We will probably end up in the staff room and the front office area and a few classrooms,” said Bethany Smith, PTO President.

The idea for “Clean up” came after a study was done by Bounty earlier this year in which 1000 teachers across the country were surveyed about their students and classrooms. Bounty found that most teachers believed that a clean classroom improved students’ learning environment, however teachers most times had to purchase their own cleaning supplies.

From there Bounty worked with PTO Today to obtain a list of 1000 schools across the country to launch “We Love Our School Week,” and schedule the Clean Ups, though severe weather caused many of them to be postponed.

Smith said she expects the clean up to last no more than two hours. Clean kits include paper towels and Mr. Clean products, however, only Bounty paper towels will be used in the event. Smith said only cleaning solutions approved by the School District can be used for cleaning.

“It’s a nice thing to do and they gave us a banner we can hang outside that says ‘We love our schools,” Smith said.
