SCOE Parent Engagement Workshops

The Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) will present four Parent Engagement Workshops designed to help parents support teen success. The Workshops are free, include dinner, and will be held at SCOE’s main office, 5100 Business Center Drive in Fairfield. SCOE is presenting these free Parent Engagement Workshops in partnership with Fairfield Suisun Rotary, Suisun City Kiwanis, and Fairfield F.a.S.T. Lions Club.

Session #1 Gang Awareness:  Rick Vaccaro, SCOE’s Director of Alternative Education and Fairfield City Councilman, will present on Tuesday, February 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The deadline for registration is Friday, February 4.

Program Description: Awareness is the first step you need to take in order to deal with the growing gang problems in our community. Learn why your teen may be looking to join a gang and how young people are recruited to join gangs. Discuss key dangers of gangs, which gangs are in our community, signs to look for in your teen, and what to do if you suspect your child is in a gang.  Finally, you will receive information regarding the resources available to assist you with preventing kids from joining a gang.
