Students needed for Exchange Program

Interest in Japan a plus

The Fairfield-Nirasaki Sister City program is looking for local high school students with an interest in Japan to be part of next summer’s three-week student exchange visit to Fairfield’s sister city.

Interested students are invited to attend the next committee meeting and get involved with the program.  The next monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at 7 p.m. at the Fairfield Senior Center, 1200 Civic Center Drive. Applications for the summer visit will be available at the meeting.

Nirasaki, Japan, is located in beautiful Yamanashi Prefecture; famous for grapes, peaches, wine, textiles, jewelry, and for being the home of Mt. Fuji.  The city is about 90 miles from Tokyo.

In addition, the Sister City Committee is recruiting host families for the annual December student visit from Nirasaki.   Six students and a chaperone will visit Fairfield for three weeks, and host families are needed for each member of the delegation.
