Little League Majors TOC: Tri-Valley Handles Suisun 10-0

Suisun is now eliminated from the tournament.

The Suisun Giants couldn’t get the ball on the bat Saturday, as they were one-hit by the Cordelia Tri-Valley Giants 10-0 in a run-shortened four-inning game in the first round of the District 53 Majors Tournament of Champions at the Cordelia Tri-Valley Little League Complex.

Tri-Valley’s Carter Bins almost went the distance, pitching 3 2/3’s innings and striking out 10.

“He was throwing some pretty good heat,” said Suisun manager Tim Campbell. “We held in there. It’s the way it goes. They had a good pitcher throwing with a good pitch count going and he was throwing pretty consistent; Hats off to them.”

Bins struckout the side in the second and third innings and gave up just two walks. He also led off the game with a double to the gap in deep left-center field and later scored Tri-Valley’s first run of the game when Jalyn Mitchell followed him up with his own double for a 1-0 lead. Bins also blasted a home run over the fence right field to start the fourth inning.

Tri-Valley would tack on two more runs in the first inning, and added four more in the third and three more in the fourth for the final count.

Jordan Ross recorded an infield single in the fourth for Suisun’s only hit of the game. Ashton Rogers was Suisun’s only other base-runner, drawing a leadoff walk in the third inning.

With the first round defeat, Suisun is now eliminated from the TOC. Campbell still kept a positive spin on things.

“Pretty good year,” he said. “We still had a winning year; moving on to All-Stars now.”

The District 53 Minors TOC starts Sunday. Suisun will face the winner of the Benicia-Napa National matchup on Monday at Tri-Valley at 5:30 p.m.
