Earth Day Events Scheduled For Waterfront

April 21 Events include trash pickup, kayak races and tree-planting ceremony

Last year's Earth Day celebration was a great success (watch the video) and Mission Solano and company are following up with another celebration this year on Saturday April 21.

There will be an expo area focusing on Earth-friendly vendors, and of course a trash cleanup throughout the waterfront area. Near the , a tree named Hope will be planted in some readied ground.

There will also be a free e-waste recycling event, so be sure bring your old computers!

Then, what could be the highlight of the event are the Kayaks 4 Kare sprint races.

According to Laura Cladreon, event promoter, Vice Mayor Mike Hudson, who is campaigning for the newly-created 11th Assembly District seat, will race against local programmer and artist Chuck Kingeter, who is one of Hudson's 11th Assembly District campaign rivals.
