Information from Salvation Army Kroc Center:
The Salvation Army will send 120 children from Solano County to its Camp Del Oro summer camp location in Nevada City. Starting on Monday, June 25, the campers will enjoy nearly a week’s worth of fun and educational activities.
“We are so excited to see kids from our community will have an opportunity to enjoy summer camp,” said Capt. Jonathan Harvey, Salvation Army Suisun City Corps Officer. “The Salvation Army does a great job hosting the campers every year. Kids will enjoy the variety of activities, they will make new friends and they will create memories that will last a lifetime.”
Scholarships were provided to the majority of the campers through the fund raising efforts of Salvation Army Advisory Board Member John Hodson. Hodson challenged his friends, business associates and other advisory board members to assist him in sending 100 children to camp, and he personally contributed a large portion of the cost.
“I remember my camp experience when I was a youth,” Hodson said. “I really wanted to see other children from Solano County have the same fun and memories that I had.”
The buses will assemble at the Kroc Center in Suisun City on Monday morning and will depart for Camp Del Oro at 11:00 a.m.
The Salvation Army’s Camp Del Oro is a residential camp in Nevada City, CA, offering six fun-filled days of educational programs in a wholesome atmosphere.
