Bass was recognized for his service on various community organizations including the Fairfield-Suisun Arts Council and the Solano Community Foundation. He is also the president of Tools for Learning for Children, a nonprofit dedicated to helping preschool-aged kids with phonics.

“Somebody has to help the kids get the foundations to succeed in life, and that’s what we do,” said Bass.

The Senior Coalition of Solano County began to partner with various senior-based groups in 2010 for the Living Legacy Awards.  The event, held at the Joseph A. Nelson Community Center, honored 29 seniors from Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Vacaville, and Vallejo. Recipients were recognized in the areas of Community Spirit; Social Innovation; Exceptional Caregiver; Intergenerational Influence and Impact; and Generative Age and Productivity.
