It's a Girl, Maybe, at Six Flags

A new Bottlenose dolphin was born Thursday at Six Flags. If it is indeed female, it will be the first born in the park in many years.

Bay City News
A baby dolphin was born a week early at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo Thursday.

Bella, a 9-year-old bottlenose dolphin, gave birth to her first calf on Thursday, a week before she was due, park officials said.

The sex has yet to be determined for the calf, which is being observed and monitored as Bella shows it her maternal side.

However, park staff said the baby is believed to be female, which would make it the first female born at the park in more than eight years.

The first 30 days are critical for the health of the calf, which Bella carried as a fetus for 12 months, park officials said.

Discovery Kingdom will soon announce when the calf will be available for the public to view.
