It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

It cleared up nicely for the eclipse, as viewed from the upper deck of Berkeley Yacht Club. TheRead More theme of this year's eclipse class was 15th Century Chinese Survey Techniques. By observing the same eclipse at widely separated locations, and then measuring the time difference to meridian transit of a known star or planet (using a water clock), ancient map-makers could establish longitude with surprising accuracy. Last night us amateurs came within 23 seconds of getting the time of the start of totality correct (after averaging all the guesses), which is only a 4.5 mile error in longitude. We'll do this again in October.

Beautiful pictures, but the resolution is poor. Bummer. I'm guessing that's simply due to how theRead More Patch is storing them.

Thanks for all the nice comments. The photographs are actually quite detailed, but unfortunately, aRead More bit gets lost in translation. If you'd like to see higher-res images shoot me an email through davedonderophotography.com. I'd be happy to email you some. I also have many oak photographs (and other subjects) at the Moraga Art Gallery.

Susan C. Schena March 27, 2014 at 07:46 am
I agree that would have been better. I only learned of it the minute I posted it, though. And IRead More scrambled to get it online as fast as I could.

I hope the almanac is right. April is typically some of the worst most inconvenient weather weRead More have. Just when you want to do some outdoor activity it is 57 degrees and raining. We will all eventually sick of the rain soon enough.

Benjamin Banneker was a self-educated scientist, astronomer, inventor, writer, and antislaveryRead More publicist. He built a striking clock entirely from wood, published the first Farmers' Almanac in 1791, and actively campaigned against slavery. He was one of the first African Americans to gain distinction in science.

Give us a break wit the 3 Canadians and 5 UK emigrants you know that moved here and were so happyRead More to be rid of their dreaded "Socialized Medicine". That shi)t has had the lie put to it for the last 3 decades. Those people are just as happy with their health plans as any other country in the world. UNIONS did not dream up The ACA. THAT was a power grab put to paper by the sitting President and the current Health Insurance Companies. INSURANCE COMPANIES raised the rates...not Unions, and not Socialists. Capitalism raised the Insurance Rates. THAT is one of the main problems with ACA.....It leaves Private Insurance Companies in charge of our Heath Care. So YOU got what you want. Capitalist Health care that is horrible and expensive. It is more Wealth By Dispossession...further transferring of the publics funds to Private Companies. By the by...Unions DO NOT make money. You need to take a basic Econ and Poli-Sci class at your local college. YOU have a lot to learn, but it will be fun. God Bless
